Our client, a Calgary based EPC Company, is actively recruiting for a Senior Welding Metallurgical Specialist.
Welding Metallurgical Specialist
This position has excellent growth opportunity and will provide the successful individual the opportunity to be part of the strategic direction of the Oil and Gas business line.
Responsibilities include:
- welding support for all aspects of engineering design including conceptual design, front-end (FEED) and detailed engineering design and plant commissioning
- provide technical assistance for welding requirements for all pressure equipment including reactors, columns, vessels, drums, rotating equipment, fired equipment and piping.
- Specify and check welding procedures (WPS) and procedure qualification records (PQR)
- Prepare welding and non-destructive examination specifications for large petrochemical facilities
- Prepare project welding specifications
- Prepare field welding manual to be used at construction sites
- Knowledge in Metallurgy in an oil & gas environment is an asset
- Supervision of junior engineers and specialists
- Coordination and management of welding group activities
Basic Job Requirements
- university degree in engineering
- 5-10 years’ experience as a welding specialist in the petroleum or petrochemical industry.
- Be a team player, having the ability to interact effectively with others in a task force environment.
- Previous EPC experience is preferred.
- Eligible to register with Alberta professional engineering association (APEGA) is an asset.
