Corrosion and Materials Engineer
Our client in the oil & gas industry in Sarnia, ON is seeking a Corrosion and Materials Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. This individual will be responsible for the pressure equipment integrity issues involving materials and corrosion at site.
Responsibilities:
· Corrosion process monitoring
· Process sampling management
· Responsible for the identification of corrosion variables to be monitored within each unit including establishment of limitations
· Materials and Corrosion Focal point for the site. Focal point for risk-based inspection on site
· All aspects of plant corrosion control and monitoring including crude corrosivity, crude blending, and cathodic protection
· Equipment inspection long term planning
· Coordinator of risk-based inspection strategy, development and implementation
· Planning and directing inspection / pressure equipment initiatives and projects independently
· Daily and turnaround support to inspectors including corrosion, materials selection and welding support
· Provide mechanical, corrosion and/or material engineering support to base plant operation, and provide consultation to operations, maintenance and projects
· Development and validation of PEI (pressure equipment integrity) initiatives, procedures, and standards
· Provide input on industry codes and standards as related to PEI
· In service pressure vessel repairs and alterations
· Management of Change review and approvals
· Providing advice on equipment in service and new equipment, systems, processes and procedures
· Plant quality control and quality assurance, including materials and welding
· Interpret Failure analysis and metallurgical analysis
· Interface with other company locations; P&T (projects and technology); Industry Owner / Users on corrosion and equipment integrity issues.
Qualifications:
· 10 + years of previous related materials and corrosion experience
· Degree in Material Sciences and Mechanical Engineering
· Must be a PEO member or eligible for registration
· Petrochemical experience is an asset
· Interface with all levels in the organization
