Heavy Duty Mechanic - Shop Foreman 

DESCRIPTION:

Working 12 hour days on an 8 days on, 6 days off rotation (compressed work week schedule), with the option to work overtime on days off, the shop foreman will be responsible for:

  • Provide daily direction to all shop employees outlining work activities, priorities and scheduling.
  • Work with the Parts Department to procure all parts and supplies necessary to complete all work.
  • Be a resource to shop personnel for technical input, trouble-shooting, repair techniques.
  • Be a working manager, working along with all Technicians to carry out repairs or any maintenance that may be required on the Fleet.
  • Oversee all work to ensure high productivity and quality workmanship (keep techs on task).
  • Oversee all maintenance and repairs to ensure optimum efficiency.
  • Process and approve all daily time cards for shop staff daily – submit to Fleet Administer
  • Conduct daily, weekly shop safety orientation/training/monitoring for all staff - be responsible to build a “safety culture”.
  • Keep shop, yard areas clean and organized.
  • Coordinate outside Service Providers who are providing overhaul or service work for shop projects.
  • Identify employee training requirements and initiate training programs to increase productivity and competency.
  • Open / Review all shop work orders daily ensuring that all techs time, parts and final inspection reports are allocated to the appropriate job line/ work order and submit to Fleet Administer for closing.
  • Ensure all maintenance documents are completed in a manner to meet NSC and OH&S protocol.
  • Help with the management of the tool crib i.e. getting broken tools repaired.
  • Build and promote a teamwork environment and philosophy with all employees.
  • Ensure that all safe job procedures and practices are followed as per policies.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Red Seal Heavy / Truck Equipment Technician Certification
  • Must be able to meet all Safety and Company requirements 
  • 5+ years of experience as a heavy duty technician/mechanic, working on oilfield equipment (i.e. pressure truck, flushby, combo unit, hydrovac, etc.)
  • Ability to manage employees productivity
  • Ability/desire to pick up the tools and lead by example when required
  • Experience 5 plus years in a related industry. (Oil Field Experience an asset)
  • Diagnostic skills in all aspects of Truck and Equipment specializing in electrical and hydraulics
  • Able to work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Ability to work with little supervision, adapt quickly to a rapidly changing environment.
  • Computer skills
  • Valid Driver’s Class 3 driver’s license with Air Brake endorsement (preferred)
